New Classes: Enameling at CALC

August 31, 2018

Hello friends! My return to teaching public classes comes in the form of enameling at Carlisle Arts Learning Center. On Sept 25 we’ll make two tone color drop earrings, and on Oct 16 & 23 (2-part class) we’ll complete a metalworking ornament. First. I’ll give you the class descriptions. Then photos of the process examples will follow (these classes will fuse enamel with a kiln as opposed to the torch method shown in photos below). To sign up, contact CALC. I’ve really been enjoying private lessons and classes at the metalledwith studio will pick up again–it’s just been too busy to schedule them quite yet!

Enameling Basics: Two-tone Color Drops
Sept 25, 6-8PM

$40 +$5 materials fee

Experiment with opaque and transparent vitreous enamels on copper to make either an ornament or set of matching (or contrasting) color drop earrings. Metal forms will be provided and each participant will go home with a finished project in this kiln-enameling class. Hypoallergenic findings for those with metal allergies and higher-design upgrades will be available at the time of the class.

Metalworking meets Enameling

Oct 16 + Oct 23, 6-8PM
$75 +$20 materials fee
Learn the valuable skill of metal piercing. Using a tiny saw blade, each participant will learn the correct technique to cut out your own design from copper sheet. Then we will transform the finished form into enameled pendants or ornaments, with a wide variety of color options available. This class is well suited for jewelry artists who would like to gain a new skill which opens up a world of design possibilities but is difficult to master solo. It is also metalworking that is open to all as we will match design elements and difficulty level to each participant.
